Description
Inkscape is an excellent free program to draw in 2D at all levels, both as amateurs and professionals, the technology used is vector graphics, this means that your drawing is basically a list of commands that tell the program how to draw, a great advantage One of this technology is that no quality is lost when resizing the image, nor is it required to compress with loss of quality, the opposite occurs with bitmap-type images such as PNG, BMP or JPG.
Additionally the tool has the option to export to *.png . used for 2D game development in Unity
All of the above makes Inkscape an excellent free program to draw and create characters and settings in 2D games, an example of this is my games Math Tower and Math Tower2 which was designed entirely using Inkscape.
As well inkscape has additional tools that make it very powerful for other areas, for example you can create libraries and automatic dimensions to make plans to scale.
Installation
To install Inkscape you just have to go to this link, download the installer and run it, there are versions for Windows, Linux and MacOS. You will need administrator permission to perform the installation.
On the disk it only occupies about 500 Megabytes.
Required power
Regarding the required power, I can tell you that inkscape works perfectly on an i5 with 4GB of RAM.
